Who We Are
We have been saved from our sins by the power of the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Jesus, we who were once alienated and enemies have not only been saved from the wrath of God, but have also been added to the body of Christ, his church.
may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 3:18-21
We are a community of people who gather on the basis of the person and work of Jesus Christ with the goal of giving glory to God alone by focusing on His infallible, sufficient Word and pursuing the knowledge of God and sanctification.
Our Roots and Our Journey
How it all began …
Our church has its roots in a small group of refugees. In the mid-1980s, a civil war in Sri Lanka drove many people from the Tamil minority into exile, including to Germany.
In the refugee camps, the Gospel was proclaimed, and many people came to faith in Jesus Christ. From this small group of believing Tamils, a Tamil-speaking congregation formed, which worshiped and grew together for decades.
The Fundamental Insight
A few years ago, however, we reached an important insight: A church cannot be founded on language or culture. Rather, the communion of the church is based on the shared faith in Jesus Christ and the sound teaching of His Word.
For through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone.
— Ephesians 2:18-20
Today: Founded on Christ
Thus, we decided not to gather exclusively as a Tamil congregation any longer. Today, we are a community of people from different backgrounds, gathering on the basis of the person and work of Jesus Christ with the shared goal: To give glory to God alone.
A renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all.
— Colossians 3:11
Our Vision: To Be a Light in Munich
Today, we still celebrate our worship services in two languages – German and Tamil. But we are on the way to switching entirely to German to serve as a light to the people in Munich.
Do all things without grumbling or disputing; so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain.
— Philippians 2:14-16
